Paavo Nurmi’s North American tour (in the US and Canada): 55 races with 52 wins, one DNF and 2 losses, both in handicap races. Americans adore the man, who had “the lowest pulse rate and the highest asking price”, and nickname him the Phantom Finn.

5–6 September

Finland wins the first Finland-Sweden Athletics International in Helsinki with a score of 99–85.

20 November

The import duty on sugar is increased to favour domestic sugar beet production.

21 December

Finland adopts a gold standard.
