9 April

An Imperial Order on Measures to Maintain State Order and Public Peace in Finland is published. The Imperial Order criticises the opposition to the efforts for strengthening the links between the Grand Duchy of Finland and the “core parts” of Russia. The Order gives Governor-General Bobrikov dictatorial powers in Finland.

17–20 August

The Finnish Workers’ Party holds its party meeting in Forssa, changes its name to the Social Democratic Party of Finland and unequivocally endorses the socialist agenda.

17 October

The Finnish Metal Industry Union is established. The union is the first association of industrial employers in Finland.
