The Emperor-Grand Duke dissolves the parliament.

17 July – 3 August

Sixty-two Finnish athletes compete at the Olympic Games in London. The first Olympic victory for Finland and the whole of Russia is won on 22 July by wrestler Verner Weckman, who defeats another Finn, Yrjö Saarela, in the final bout of the light heavyweight class.

6 November

Swedish Day (Svenska dagen) is celebrated for the first time in Finland, based on a decision made by the executive committee of the Swedish People’s Party in December 1907.
